Si "enfant" vient du latin "infans" ou "[celui] qui ne parle pas", alors The Grand Contraction, deuxième opus de The Foetal Mind, est un vrai retour en enfance : mis à part "Big Crunch", toutes les pistes sont instrumentales. Par ailleurs, le quartette français joue tout avec ce qui lui passe sous la main, il prend des risques en oubliant la peur de trébucher : en plus du doom metal, il combine metal classique avec black metal atmosphérique et blackgaze avec un talent assez unique. Audacieux !

On salue à juste titre les albums qui accomplissent un tour de force : le premier album éponyme de Subterranean Disposition en fait cinq — un sur chaque piste, ni plus ni moins. En plus d'un death/doom metal très engageant qui plaira aux amateurs de My Dying Bride, il se démarque par ses excursions avant-gardistes qui s'intègrent parfaitement, tantôt folk, tantôt bruitistes voire jazz ! Et on peut même en rajouter un sixième : cet album est l'œuvre d'une seule personne ! C'est très ambitieux !

Galaktik Cancer Squad a muté : dans Ghost Light, la présence du chant se confirme (et il est très furieux) et la production met la batterie un peu en retrait, ce qui permet d'oublier qu'elle est programmée. Malgré tous ces changements, le travail de compositions sur les guitares, plus proches du black metal, est toujours aussi impeccable avec quelques riffs, notamment sur "In lichterlosen Weiten" et "Hypnose", qui sont presque légendaires — comprenne qui pourra ! Vivement un prochain album !!
